What I saw...

Trying to take pictures of it woulda been futile, but I have to describe it so its at least on the record.

Last night, around midnight, looking high to the south, resting in the royal navy blue among the floating sapphire blue constellations, a large coral yellow dot, the brightest thing in the sky apart from the perfect crescent of the quarter moon. Silvery clouds lit up by city lights and high above the southern fog banks, flashes of distant lightning over the horizon.
