Back then
Last night, Brian and I were talking about old times, things past.
Coincidentally, someone left a comment on a post from almost exactly 2 years ago. August 2001. I had to think back as to my situation, what I was doing and my state of mind back then.
Whoo. Tough Times. But Good Times.
Most of the people around me then are gone, scattered, some forgotten, some not. The Cappy, my closest physical friend back then, has gone through numerous changes too. The egyptian girl I had started going with, I wonder if she finally came out of the closet, and dumped the psychotic stalker boyfriend who she dumped me to go back to. Heh, Egyptians are crazy as she would say. The pedophile who owned the Internet Cafe (hey, I fixed his machines, his wife didnt know about the Lolita porn he accumulated and had me cleaning the virii they came with), I wonder if theyve caught on.
The Sicilian ladies at the Pride Bakery, bless their old school souls. I miss them. They took care of me.
The mobster who owned the little barbershop downstairs from my apartment. The Not-Yet-Faded Puerto Rican Beauty from across the hall. The little Italian man who gave me much life wisdom in a short period of time. The accountant to the mob, who uttered the defining words in my life - "If not now.. when?" - and is one of the most honest people Ive ever met. They gave me love.
And when I got the feeling that nothing would ever be the same again.
Bayonne, New Jersey. August 2001.
Seems like a lifetime ago.
