Glinessa: sure
JPennant: http://www.flickr.com/photos/itinerant/sets/514753/show/
JPennant: Just a few of the 950 pictures I took
Glinessa: lol...that's a lot of pics
JPennant: yar
Glinessa: nice, but didn't expect teh nakedness
JPennant: Um.. what you are seeing is TONED DOWN from what was there.
JPennant: This is San Francisco
Glinessa: i know :-)
JPennant: What surprised me how little I was shocked.
Glinessa: lol...spoken like a true new yorker
Glinessa: same shit, different town
JPennant: Its the same shit, done different.
Glinessa: yep
JPennant: Imagine New York where the cops wont bring you in for smoking weed in public.
JPennant: Not that theyre so laid back, but they will cut you some slack
Glinessa: ok
JPennant: Hrm. Not a good analogy, but sufficient. :-)
Glinessa: i understand and that's all that matters
JPennant: right on :-)

Actually, a flckr reader from New York who had gone to the NY Pride parade commented at seeing one pic:
joeinqueens says: Wow! I wish I was able to be that way in the NYC pride.
Yeah, in NY - you simply cant be as .. free .. as you can be in Frisco. Rebellious, yes. Different. Definitely. But not as free to be ...

People kept asking me how the SF Pride parade compared to the New York Pride parade.
"The New York one is a lot more intense."
"How do you mean, 'intense'?"
"Mmm, The energy level is higher, the noise is higher, its more cramped with people piled up on top of each oher on the winding streets of Greenwich Village, its hotter and more humid. Here, its more laidback, even with all the people."
"it's a lot mellower here?"
"Definitely."
"Ahh, ok."
The other difference here is that this is San Francisco's BIG Party. THE Party. Gay, Straight.. people are definitely in a party mood during this time, and you know San Franciscans will party and play dress up at the drop of a hat.
Hell, they dont even need the excuse of a hat dropping. :)

Any time I shoot over 300 images, my brain gets tired, and I get tuckered out.
Between 11am and 5pm yesterday, I shot a little over 900 images.
(An aside. Product plug: Energizer 2500mah rechargeable batteries are frikkin amazing. The first set of these AA batteries gave out after about 650 shots. Thats 650 shots of flash, intense zoom motor use, using an energy-hungry microdrive, and the camera not being turned off. With the duracell rechargeables, anything past 260 images I figure is gravy.)
Ive been having episodic deep sleep periods since yesterday evening, with intense dream sessions. Id fall asleep, then wake up hours later, putter around, then fall right back unconscious. I have not slept like this in ages.
The odd thing about all these dreams, I realized later - is that these are continuations of dreams Ive had before. In fact, the dreams were COMPLETING old dreams.
Like everything need to be wrapped up with the characters and situations.
Its as if something was, or is, being purged.
Frankly, I like that.
