Probably the easiest to understand Linux book Ive read up till now. Most computer instruction books - at best, read like a 250 page manual on how to use a spoon.

Kit bag

I had supposed to do this last summer. So much so, that people who havent seen me in awhile had assumed I had already cleared town. Well, now - barring any more delays, Im soon outta here.

So, stuff. Gotta shed things, connections and .. stuff. . Better to shed everything, lightens the load. Books and DVD's. Why am I keeping books? I rarely reread anything and they are HEAVY. Computer equipment? Nice to have around, but - eh. One thing Im totally resisting is selling my cameras, even though I only use one.

The only thing I need are my images, those are irreplaceable. If I could put everything one drive...

I learned when I left the East Coast that what you think you should keep are essentially a burden. What it is do you really need? Important papers, memories and a change of clothes. All that can fit into a bag you can carry everywhere.

At first, I went there to test the wireless under linux. Then I clocked onto how damned fast the connection is there. So fast, its absurdly easy to download DVD images.

Yesterday, I treated myself to a chicken dinner for the first time in a long time. Nothing fancy, 3 pcs with 2 sides of rice and potato wedges. Halfway through, I was FULL. So full I had to force myself to finish the meal, a meal I couldve easily inhaled before. Ive been on a restricted diet the past few months, and have lost quite a bit of weight on an almost all vegetarian diet, but this still surprised me.

It became less surprising when I read this article in Psychology Today that outlined the mechanisms behind food cravings. Food as the original addiction. In fact, considering that most drugs tap into the reward mechanisms that food uses, this TOTALLY makes sense.

Ive become quite good at quickly whipping up a satisfying meal in a rice cooker. But after that meal, the cravings for processed food started again. I walked into a store and looked around - there was NOTHING healthy in there. Theyre good for the quick snack, but Im now seeing why it is so hard to keep a reasonable weight level in this society.

I have to keep reminding myself, what I paid for that 3 pc chioken dinner can buy enough rice and beans to keep me fed for a month. Hey, add a little garlic, vegetables and simple spices - and those meals are highly satisfying. And doesnt feel "vegetarian".

I prefer "simple", "economical" and "good".

If you have been worrying about your cash flow situation, worry no more. You may or may not come into money over the next few days but you will most certainly realize that it isn't worth the time or the effort getting worked up about where your next dollar is coming from. It always comes from somewhere.

That would be nice. Its been rough. However, not eating out and being on an all vegetarian diet, I have lost quite a bit of weight - which really feels good. My knees arent complaining and my blood pressure isnt as bad. This time I want to keep it off.
