Uhh, clint.

The Mac is dead.

I was cleaning up my place and unplugged it. When I plugged it back in, there was a flash, a brief flame and smoke.

Yah. No need for troubleshooting.

well, its a good thing Ive been on the lookout for a new one.
--------------
I picked up the dell laptop that died last year, dropped in a drive.. and lo, it booted right into windows.

WTF? It was slated to have the motherboard and power supply replaced as it resisted all previous efforts at sustained revival.

Are the Gods screwing wit me?

I'll treat it as a drunken suspect, but so far - its been running hard.

Weird.

--------------

According to my logs, ive not used this laptop since january of last year.

Looking through the files and programs, Im reminded of the futility of holding onto things. programs and projects that seemed so critical are now obsolete, fit to be discarded.

Lately, Im finding Im doing the same with people and relationships. It seems as if Im distancing myself from people and situations, not even willing to try anyone new or give old situations another chance.

A lot of it, I think, is an unwillingness to deal with experiences that hurt or were uncomfortable. It's also learning how to recognise situations way before they happen, and being unwilling to let them happen again.

I think Im being unfair, but I then run it by the logic detector, add hard-won experience, and the decision invariably stands up.

Heh. i watch two of the toughest TV judges - judge Mathis and Judge Judy and shake my head at the seemingly arbitrary way they mete out their decisions. Quick-tempered and short, they have little patience for people who lie to them or come into their courtrooms with agendas.

Sometimes, their decisions seem sooo unfair, wrong even - but over time, you see theyre more often right than wrong.

I see that now.

The nuclear option

The nuclear option, originally uploaded by Itinerant.

Alhough I say this everytime, this is the sickest Ive been in a long time.

Coughing. Phlegm. Mucus. Sinus pressure. Snot. Spitting. Chills. Fever. Headaches.

There is a cold pandemic in San Francisco, and as someone said "This one is a monster", and that it is. Every time I think Im getting better, it gets worse.
And its been nearly two weeks.

Im one miserable puppy.

Normally, a healthy dose of garlic will ward off the sniffles, but this one shrugged of all doses like it was superman. The spiciest chili paste at India Palace only cleared my sinuses for a day.

I had no choice. Time for the ultimate.

Dinner @ the Stinking Rose.

The nuclear option.

So much garlic, it burned going down, and then I added more. I inhaled the pan of roastedd garlic, garnished with crushed pepper garlic and the 20 clove chicken dish.

So much grlic, that my clothes reeked of garlic.

Did it help? Well, normally it wipes out anything Ive got, but this time - it got a lot of crud outta me, and Im sleeping a little bettr.

I may need a second visit.
