Making a list...
Going through my music made me think of the tunes that make me jump and shout. Guaranteed.
I think this is my top list in no particular order:
If i could wake up to one song every day for the rest of my life, this is it.
This song alone qualifies Hall and Oates as one of the pre-eminent R&B writers and musicians, period.
One of the smoothest, best songs - no, THE best song about infidelity and murder i have EVER heard. :)
Lord, the way this woman sings this standard makes me tingle. And she made the definitive version.
Silly fun from the Clown of the Underground. :)
Guitars, prose and drums served smooth and flavorful.
To be backed up by one of the best backup bands ever - Earth, Wind and Fire- and the unmatched harmonies from the legendary Emotions .. Wow. Melts my heart every time I hear it.
Whisky and heartbreak in stripped down form.
With Jasmine Guy singing back up, it's always on my rotation.
It aint the best song Ive ever heard, but somehow, every so often, i just NEED to hear it.
I think the reason no has made a good cover of this (even Barry White had one), the band was properly high and drunk when they made this. :) Truly sublime.
Raunchy, but Tupac and The Digital Underground crew are just having hella fun.
My guilty pleasure, and truly one of the songs that irrevocably changed music, along with Run-DMC's "Walk This Way".
Vanilla Ice's DJ may have pulled that song out of the one-hit wonders morgue into Classic status, but it really is one of the definitive songs of the 70's. And a lotta fun to scream along with. :)
The definitive ode to Miami. Along with "Summertime" and "Men in Black", a Will Smith anthem.
Either version will do me. :)
The hit from the Economics Graduate student. Popularized the word "Poindexter".
Although the Texas Blues album Eliminator has not one bad song on it, this is my favorite.

There are others that would qualify for this list, but these particular ones never get old.

election day
SF Supervisor (alderman or city council) Chris Daly and campaign volunteer. Likely the next mayor of San Francisco.
Today's horrorscope sez:
With our website being attacked, helping to publish election day coverage, doing a move and looking over contracts for vendor services, Im wiped. And the week is only half over.
The worst part though, is that Im essentially sleeping for about 5 hours then Im up, and cannot go back to sleep. My brain simply wont wind down.
Not that Im complaining, really - as I actually like what Im doing.
But, before I burn out, I do need some uninterrupted quiet time.
You must give yourself a break today, not only for the sake of your health but because you have reached the point of diminishing returns. In other words, the more you put in the less you get out, so you might as well stop altogether. Come the weekend you will be able to move forwards again.

Been at work til midnight the last couple of days, the big hump is over. As I walked out, I started humming "I can see clearly now"...
Feels like things are falling together. Even my normally "and then what" gut was giving me no agita.
Today's horrorscope:
Two more pressing projects to complete and Im done for the week.
Hell, I may even have a weekend free.

Today's horrorscope:
Many pieces are falling into place today -- and while you may not have enough time to go over the finer details, you will be able to see enough of the big picture to get an idea about what you need to do next. Things are looking good! The best part of today will be the fact that you'll finally be able to get rid of a thorn in your side. Take it out quickly -- the relief you feel will carry you through your day and refresh your ideas about what can get done.

Before, it was just a game. Now it's PERSONAL.
In 1985, the Chicago Bears were cruising to an undefeated season, on their way to winning the Super Bowl, a crowning achievement in their storied history as one of the best teams ever.
The Miami Dolphins spoiled that undefeated season by handing them their only loss.
This year the Bears were cruising to an undefeated season.
The Miami Dolphins just handed them their first loss.
It was a good game, smashmouth football at its best.
But now, the Miami Dolphins arent just another team ...
For Chicago, forever more, they are now a hated rival.
Theyve earned it.
