On rotation

Amerie - 1Thing
(damn I love the percussion/drum loop from the seminal Funk group The Meters. Genius to use that.)
Sade - Is it a Crime
Anita Baker - Sweet Love, Angel
Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Right Round
--------
Been kinda hermetic lately.

Forcing myself to not connect to folk if I dont have to.
Heh, when I heard Dave Chappelle had taken off to get himself right, I understood totally. Dude is a Virgo too.

When our emotions or dealing with people start to overwhelm us, we need a little .. space.

Sometimes we use that as an excuse to be anti-social, but eh. No offense, just need to let those troublesome emotions calm down so that our mind can operate the way its meant to.

Yeah, we're mental - but in a good way. :)

1) Total Number of films I own on dvd: 16

- The Incredibles
- Monty Python: The Meaning of Life
- Eat Drink Man Woman
- Spiderman 1 & 2
- Disney's Aladdin
- My Cousin Vinny
- Mumford
- Risky Business
- Office Space
- Young Frankenstein
- Anchorman
- The Italian Job
- Spaceballs
- Undercover Brother
- M.A.S.H (I lent it to Risa, who took it with her to Ecuador and New York - so Im gonna have to replace it. Robert Altman's best.)

If it werent for Mr Clint and not counting TV shows it would be 9. Because of my recent experiences, I dont want a lot of stuff. Otherwise, its clutter I may have to shed.

2) The last film I bought: Mumford

When I get around to it, the next one will be Bull Durham.

3) The last film I watched: Robots (my sweet lord, did that suck.)

Or was it The Upside of Anger? Dunno, I was theater-hopping, stretching a 10-dollar ticket to last a whole day. :)

4) Five films I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:

Hm. Thats hard.
Id have to use as criteria, the films I would happily turn off the lights, turn off the phone and load up on munchies and jammies for.

- Mumford.
(If you havent watched it and just going by a film synopsis, you wouldnt get it. Written by the man who wrote both The Big Chill AND the first two Star Wars.)
- Father Goose
(One of Cary Grant's finest films.)
- Bull Durham
(Great flick. Wears well with age. Like baseball itself.)
- You've Got Mail
(Believe it or not, I consider it an exceedingly subtle and too-short film about love, family, choices and location. Also, the company and technology featured was a big part of my life. AND of course, its a film all about New York's Upper West Side, where Im glad I lived and would definitely go live again.)
- Pillow Talk.
(Doris Day and Rock Hudson go well together.)

Self-destructive behavior

Hm.

Im bored. Need to relieve some minor stress.

Maybe I need to play some mindless video games. I havent done that in a long long time.

SimCity, maybe. MechWarrior, oh yeah. Total Annihilation!

Hm.

Arg, Im using a Mac. Hm. Few games for the Mac. Cant even find *^% demos for games Id like. I tried loading SimCity 4 on it.. and the Mac crashed. Naturally.

Hm. They made a Mac version of Total Annihilation. Ive put off ordering it, but now... Hmm.

Ah yes, my Total Annihilation jinx. Hm. But thats just been on laptops.

Will the Mac blow up when I load it?

Hm.

Lets order it and see....

So So cheesy

On rotation

Dee-Lite - Groove is in the Heart
Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
Imagination - Just an Illusion
Soft Cell - Tainted Love
Toni Basil - Mickey
K7 - Come Baby Come
Right Said Fred - Im too sexy
Sir Mix-A-Lot - My Hooptie
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen
Culture Club - Clock of the Heart
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U
Peter Gabriel - Sledge Hammer

Yep, an 80's fest.

Always liked Ice Ice Baby, screw the haters, the dude changed music forever. Come on Eileen might have been a mutant Irish folk song, but its got a catchy hook. It took me a long time to figure out that I wanna be the drummer on Mickey, the percussion is kickin'. I might think Sinead, the former darling of college kids everywhere, a serious ditz, but she sings the hell out of that Prince cover. Culture Club: Ok, Boy George freaked me out as a teenager, but damn, the dude could sing - and I appreciate Clock of the Heart as one of the wisest songs Ive ever heard. Plus Im more secure in my sexuality now. :) Dee-Lite made club DJ's as musicians cool, with attitude and fun. Sir Mix-A-Lot has always been droll, specially with that pean to rolling Buckets everywhere. Mine was a 72 Coupe-DeVille my pops had bought from some Mexican thugs on the West Side of Chicago, with the hood secured by chains and a padlock. Just an Illusion. Heh, if I could play bass Id hum the Bass line forever. Tainted Love's a great song, innit? I could sing it to many an ex. And I think everybody remember where they were when they first heard I'm So Sexy, Right, said Fred?
