Replacement iPod
Replacement iPod
My iPod died.
It'd been acting uber-flaky, and when I hooked it to the puter for the first time in 4 months, it ran the updater - then died. Stiff. No response,
A Norwegian Blue, pining for the fjords it was.
I wuz hoping theyd replace it with a 'current equivalent'. A color ipod at least. But noo - the exact same thing. Durnit.
The new one sounds better, isnt as sluggish. I guess the old one was bad out of the box, but I didnt realize it.
At least I got my music back.
Baccarat crystal
Baccarat crystal
Out of high school I worked in the fine foods and objects department at Marshall Fields in the Chicago Area where I got an education in high end foods and crystals.
While there, they had a Baccarat crystal figurine, a solid crystal glass figurine of a running greyhound done in Art Deco style. A true work of art and my fiirst experience with heavy crystal glass. It was 85 bux at the time. For nearly 20 years since, I kicked myself for not buying it.
Recently, I went to the Baccarat store in Union Square to inquire what it would cost to get that figurine.
A) It was no longer in production.
B) It was listed at $1500.
Ugh.
When I go to france, I'll be looking for it.

Flyby
Flyby
When planes land or take off at SFO or Oakland, they do a curving flyby over San Francisco, going low and slow to take in the views.

This is the worst image I took last night
This is the worst image I took last night.
Before I headed off for work I grabbed both the tripod and monopod, with no clear plan of what I intended to do or where I intended to go.
The night ended with a ride back over the bridge in a cop cruiser as I found out they close the bridge to pedestrians at 6:30 pm during the winter.
In between I took a lotta pictures. I consider anything over 300 images a safari. I took 800. And wouldve taken more if Id taken an extra memory card.
But thats ok, its qualiy, not quantity, right? :)
Life is good.
