While getting some shoes this afternoon, I helped this young lady decide on boots.
She was sweet. Heh, with a slight French accent .
(I took the pictures to show her the difference between what she thought the bouts looked like versus what they actually did.)
I do miss shopping with the beau's, never mind my usual grumpiness about going shopping in general.
I had a friend tell me that you arent in a relationship unless youre sleeping with the person. Actually, I think youre not in a relationship with someone until you go SHOPPING with them. :)

Shoe shopping
After dinner
Indian buffet joint on Fillmore & Sutter, reading Twyla Tharp's The Creative Habit.
Heh, this book needs to be read as if a militant dance instructor is barking orders at you. Interestingly, while carrying this book around, I got a lot of questions, smiles and looks from SF's artsy fartsy crowd..
They mostly thought it was a book on dance.
Guess it looked incongruous.

High clouds of winter
The pineapple express weather pattern (warm air from the mid-pacific) is pretty much over. Now we are in the Bering Express pattern (cold air from Alaska).
Interesting cloud patterns either way.

Up the street
This is up the street from my place. The elevation rises up about 850 feet within the space of about 15 blocks, making it a good lil walk.
Definitely a great exercise trail. I should be starting soon. Very soon. Eventually.

Ode to Frisco
"Thankgawd we're all living in San Francisco.
I'd hate to be this annoyed anywhere else."
- Herb Caen
Frederic Larson's Mystical San Francisco
Wood Dragon
Wood Dragon
Younger, I never thought that the Dragon archetype accurately described me.
Older, Ive gotta say.. yeah, it kinda describes my energy.
10,000 years of observation may have something to it.
Powell Street cable car
There are TWO H&M stores in Union Square now.
Do they even NEED 2 stores within 2 blocks of each other?!!
Wait, I forgot - Starbux does that.
Herons coming in for the night
At sunset, there is a flood of birds coming in from the ocean offshore (Farallon Islands etc) to roost for the night.
You see them more when youre by or on the water.
Bus terminus
26 Valencia
Fifth and Jessie (across the street from Nordstrom's)
I take this bus because it drops me right in front of my doorstep. The rest, (14 Mission, 49 Van Ness, 22 Fillmore) I have to walk a whole city block. Sheesh.
Wash me
This is the dirtiest Ive ever seen a Chrysler Pacifica.. I checked and sure enough, its a 4WD/AWD.
At least SOMEONE took one into the dirt. Warms my heart. :)
Moon shot
Before this, I have NEVER been able to get a good shot of the moon with a digital camera, particularly since I almost always shoot handheld.
I would almost always get a white blob. This is cool.
In the shot (Your grass is greener).
I generally like to stand off by myself when I take pictures, away from people. And generally, folk are courteous when they see me taking a shot, trying to avoid getting into the picture. Some dont care and walk right into it, and thats cool.
But then there are a percentage of folk who get my goat. These are the people who see me taking the shot, and PUT THEMSELVES IN THE WAY TO ENJOY THE VANTAGE POINT .. or even to get a picture themselves. And we arent talking just innocently, these people are AGGRESSIVE. My god.
When I encounter these folk, I simply give up on the shot and walk away elsewhere. The worst ones continue with the behavior.
Example: The couple in this photo. I wedge myself into a corner in the rear of on an empty cable car. Theyre on the other side of the conductor. These two see me and step into the shot. After a few frustrating minutes, I turnaround and shoot toward the front of the car. They then abandon the rearward shot and put the camera IN FRONT of me to get my vantage point. Finding it difficult, they move to the other side of the car to get what I was getting - going back to where they were before they stepped in front of me. Where they discovered that the view was excellent.
Jayzus..

Fate will send you several major opportunities over the next week but it is up to you to do something with them. Fortunately, with the planets firmly on your side at the moment you won't lack for ambition and by this time next week you will be well on your way to making your fortune.
*clap clap clap* Wheee!
Review of the Fuji s9000
I know, I know, Ive bought the thing already. But this article gave me some great ideas on low light shooting.
