Walk off the main streets of downtown San Francisco, and you will often see these white police cars in the most incongruous of areas.
These are the cars of the Federal Protection Service, the beat cops of the Government. Which means, if they are around, you are usually on Government property, which is often unmarked in SF.
A friend of mine once got a ticket from THEM for pissing in an alley.
Surprised, he was like "Who the hell are you?"
They replied "Youre on Federal Property". He said there were no signs in the area of warehouses, stores and residential hotels, no indication of any government activity.
Just be careful where you step in San Francisco.
