The Real Witching Hour

At 4am in the Bay, the Pacific Ocean asserts its dominance over the land.

At 4am, the temperature will reach its daily low.

At 4am (or thereabouts), if you are uncovered, indoors or out, you will awaken shivering. (Mars will attest to this...)

At that time of the morning, there are few people out and about. Not dogs, cats or police cars. But you will hear the clattering and coughing of people waking up unwillingly.

Some will go back to bed, some will recognise the futility and wearily get up and about.

But, at 4am Pacific time, it is 7am eastern, and the sun has already risen on the continent, already warming the air over the land and pushing back the freeze. You can actually feel this after 4am on the West Coast.

So, this is me, post 4am freeze.

The worst part..

There is not ONE *&^@#%^$% coffee and donut shop open at 4am here in Berkeley..
